imagined horizons

I am obsessed with skies and clouds, and imagine a world of images and meanings alive within them. My multi-media collage paintings explore our search for beauty and joy in the texture of every day. My landscapes revisit the sky, the ocean and the meadows in my memories.

You can look closely and find oceans and seas in the clouds, which are a quilt of vintage maps collaged on fine paper. I love the richness of old maps: names of places that exist no longer, the shapes and colors: waterlines become horizon lines, islands become clouds, borders, roads and rivers become contour lines and shadows.

This is what I try to share with my art: the light and beauty and tranquility to be found on even a dark and cloudy day.
